Sun Stroke and Freezer Burn

Dominican Beach

When you visit a tropical locale in the end of November you expect to come back to a colder climate. Sure that’s what I thought too, but you tell that to my tan. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t admit to myself that I was coming back to a cold grey world… especially one covered in snow… which is what I awoke to this morning.

Yesterday palm trees… today slush.

The trip, however, was completely amazing and refueled my desire for travel, which has been sorely lacking as of late. We spent 7 nights at a all-inclusive resort called Melia Caribe in Punta Cana, DR. It was absolutely spectacular. It was also very reasonable (less than $100 per person per night).

The one thing I was looking forward to, on my return, was fresh food. The buffet style breakfast, lunch, and dinner started to bring back painful memories of college. Not that the food was bad, just that when you ordered food it’s almost always off a heat lamp and a little bland to accommodate sensitive palates.

All in all, I would highly recommend the experience.

One thing to remember is that the resort has two sides which look almost identical. There are two registrations, two lounges, two of everything. Just keep it in mind when you’re drunk on mai tais at one of the two identical pools.

You guides scareddashiddoudame the other day. Your site was down for a couplahours!

Don't never do that no more. I hope you are well settled in and having a hot cocoa or something to offset the mai tais. I would very much like to send you a jpeg of an illustration I did recently Ben. I cant sort out the textile mubo jumbo for the life of me!?

Can you give me a way to send you some pix via e-mail? Thanky! JFK
