What could I say that would stop you from clicking on this link to a video of William Shatner’s version of Lucy In the Sky with Diamonds? Not much.

In spite of all the hoopla surrounding Google Video I have personally never really given it much of a chance. Since I use Linux at work, my first attempt at it from the office was fruitless. Most of the videos were unplayable. Mind you this was quite some time ago, because it looks like things have definitely changed.
I have to say that now that I’ve had an excuse to follow a link to something there, and spent some time playing around, I’m impressed. It works very well. (Of course I’m on my Mac, which seems to make everything feel so much better)
I found so many hilarious/disturbing/shocking videos there. Thanks for the nudge in that direction. I’m sure I’ll be randomly browsing through videos there for a long time to come. It would be bitchin’ if you could subscribe to subjects or search string topics via rss, kind of like a video podcast. That’s actually one of my favorite features of Google News. Through my rss news reader I subscribe to canned topics, as well as search strings about topics I’m personally interested in. I liken it to having your own personal media servant who sits at home all day and simultaneously watches all the news websites in the world, just to filter out all the things I’m interested in.
This Shatner video is priceless. Just the fact that he actually recorded this cover is enough to make me laugh out loud, but this fan-made video makes it soooo much better. I ended up sending it to tons of friends and family.
