Tip for New Podcasters

Link and link often to the podcasts you visit. Creating a network of Podcast you enjoy will not only serve to connect you to your peers, but is also valuable advertising.

Every single podcaster I know checks their refer logs to see who has linked to them. If you link to them, or mention them in your podcast, chances are they will be listening to that show. If you’re lucky, or have a great podcast, they will even link to your website.

I also always believe that you should talk about other podcasts near the end or middle of your podcast to _encourage_ listener looking for mentions of themselves to listen to the entire Podcast.

When in doubt go straight for the ego.

Last but not least, only link to websites you listen to. The most important rule of weblogs and Podcasts alike is always stay true to your personality. Links are sacred, so keep them up-to-date and don’t misrepresent yourself by linking to a site that you would never listen to ordinarily.

That’s all the advice I’ve amassed so far. Hope it helps.

There is nothing like a crisp Monday, with the missus out galavanting in the big city. Quiet time to reflect, reminisce, and enjoy the evening. It’s been a busy holiday season and it’s only November.

Thanks to all you folks who have been writing in spurring me on and sending me tips on what to play and where to find the good music. I really appreciate all the e-mails. Anything I can do for you, just mention it. And just to keep you guys in on what’s been happening lately the site’s traffic has grown! *Over a thousand* listeners so far and I couldn’t be happier.

My Apologies

Hey there crew! Sorry I didn’t post a Tracks Up the Tree this weekend, but I have been furiously getting some of my music together and spent this weekend away visiting friends. Don’t you fret I will be back with a vengeance come midweek, but if you are looking for a few shows to pass the time may I suggest.

* “The Theory of Everything”:http://www.toeradio.org/ with Benjamin Walker “RSS”:http://www.toeradio.org/index.xml
* “Whole Wheat Radio”:http://www.wholewheatradio.org/ with Jim Bob “RSS”:http://www.wholewheatradio.org/audio/wwr_podcast.xml

I also went to see Sufjan Stevens over in Southpaw and was completely blown away by the performance. I’ll be playing a few tracks by Sufjan as well as some tracks by his opening bands.

The Piltones Album Found!

I have been shocked from the response of listeners to _the Piltones_ song *Death Star* I played on the last podcast. Although Brian is still MIA, the good news is I found a source for the CDs!

CDBaby still has stock of the Piltones album.

I am extremely excited by this find, because not only does it prove that they existed but also that I am not crazy. Check into next weeks show to hear another few from the Pilton and his many tones.

Sad Day

My iPod is broken. What sucky luck. Now how am I going to listen to all my favorite podcasts? Anybody know how to fix a screwy headphone jack?

Crap!

Now the _waiting_ doesn’t seem so bad.

Well, I’m not going to talk about how disappointed I am in the Country, or the piss poor turn out of 18-29 year olds (17%), but I am going to say — there is no time for belly aching. Bush is still out there and we got a job to do, even if the rest of the country has been frightened into voting like sheep, we must stay strong. We were outvoted, but not outsmarted. We have the creative people on our side, so let’s get creative and bring down this house of cards.

*Now saddle up partner, we got places to go.*

Election Day

Damn all this waiting. I just want to know who’s going to be my president. I really hope it isn’t Bush. Man, that would totally suck.

It is really amazing how many people are coming out to vote. Cool to think that even if as a country we are completely polarized, democracy is in full effect. I just hope we can make this country work being that we are so divided.

We’ll make it work. We always have.

Say Hello Swingers!
